Ten years ago, Katie Dufort was called to Federal Jury Duty in Scottsdale. She was picked up for dinner on a golf cart that night — and that simple ride planted the first seed.
By July 2016, Katie had purchased her first golf cart. Ride Prescott and Ride Scottsdale were born: a downtown golf cart taxi service offering fun transportation, local tours led by Realtors, and winter sleigh rides in Prescott. By 2019, her fleet had grown to 3 golf carts.
But a new idea was taking shape. By early 2020, that spark had become a full vision: an “escape room on wheels.”
In July 2020 — right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic — Puzzle Rides officially launched in Prescott. This was the natural progression of turning bold, even audacious, ideas into reality through hard work, determination, and the courage to do things differently.
What followed was innovation building upon innovation: developing larger group formats, launching Puzzling Pub Crawls, creating the Puzzle Relay, and building the groundbreaking Team Dynamics Report. Each step required vision, persistence, and the willingness to challenge conventional thinking about team building and entertainment.
Today, that spirit of reaching beyond the next barriers continues. The opening of The Puzzle Shop in Prescott, recognition as a U.S. Chamber of Commerce CO—100 Disruptor, and future plans for The Puzzle Factory and other company expansions all reflect the same drive: to create experiences that bring people together in meaningful, memorable, and unexpected ways.
